Humanoid robot growth: annual shipments and forecasts
We use BofA’s published annual outlook to show a ten-year growth scenario: 20,000 shipments estimated for 2025, rising to 1.2 million in 2030 and 10 million in 2035. The dotted line follows its year-by-year projections.
Latest shipment update: Counterpoint estimates over 22,000 shipments in the first half of 2026, nearly 300% higher year on year, and forecasts over 50,000 for the full year. These separate estimates provide a current market update alongside BofA’s longer-term scenario. Counterpoint, August 2026 .
Humanoid robot market potential: global, Asia Pacific and Japan
We examine the commercial outlook through annual market revenue, regional shares and Japan’s current estimate and outlook. We reviewed these sources on September 9, 2026. Revenue measures market sales; it differs from shipment volume and startup valuations.
Grand View Research (GVR) estimates $2.4 billion in 2025 and approximately $4.2 billion in 2026, with a $40.5 billion forecast for 2033. We show its published endpoints without inventing an annual growth path.
In the same model, Asia Pacific’s share rises from 41.3% in 2025 to 49.2% in 2033. North America’s smaller forecast share does not imply lower absolute revenue: the global market is also expanding.
We compare 2026 estimates with 2033 forecasts across Asia Pacific. GVR projects regional revenue rising from $1.78 billion to $19.91 billion; Japan’s share of that 2033 outlook is $3.42 billion, or 17.2%.
For Japan, we use a consistent market definition and a nearer forecast horizon: $219 million in 2025, an estimated $382.8 million for 2026, and a $3.42 billion forecast for 2033. These are GVR’s market estimates and outlook, rather than guaranteed sales.
